Classes offered at NH Humane Society in Laconia NH with Lisa Caputo CPDT-KA
Are you looking for a Manners class for your pup? We are now offering classes at the NH Humane Society with Lisa Caputo!
Puppy Life Skills-
This class is for puppies 2 to 5 months of age
Get your puppy started right!
This class will run 45 minutes weekly for five weeks. We will work on life skills, such as Confidence building, new situations, body handling, settling attention, name game, sit, down, introduction to leash walking, and more! There will also be puppy playtime if appropriate!
Puppy Kindergarten –
For puppies 5 – 12 months. This class runs for 55 minutes weekly for 5 weeks. We do not do puppy socialization in this class as our mission in our training is to allow you to be the best thing in your puppy’s world. Allowing your puppy to focus on you in high distraction environments!
We will work on: Puppy chewing, Human nipping, Sit, Down, Stay, Touch, Focus, go to place, collar grab and leash, wait, coming when called, start of leash walking.
Note: The first class is a non-dog classes, where the human is getting the education, not the dog. This allows all students to be set up and ready for the second class for when they bring their dog. The hope is to provide students with everything they need to have their first class be a success.
Level 1 Manners –
Do you have a dog that needs to start working on some manners? Does your dog have some basic manners, but you want to work on adding in some distance and distractions to those manners? Then this is the class for you! This class is open to any dog 1 year or older or any pup that has completed our Puppy Kindergarten class. This class runs for 55 minutes weekly for 5 weeks. We work on skills such as sit, down, stay, leave it, place, come when called, and leash walking, along with working on those skills around other dogs, people, and outside, all while working on developing trust and confidence within your dog.
The goal of this class is to apply the skills learned and implement and proof them with the “3D’s” model, which is distance, duration, and distractions. We want you and your dog to be successful in starting your journey to having a dog that can be successful outside, around other dogs, and other people. We have set a curriculum but try to modify each skill to the particular dog’s level of learning, as there is no cookie cutter way to training.
If you are ready to get your dog prepared for the settings above, then this is the class for you.
Note: The first class in all sessions are human only classes. Please leave your dog at home. This is where the human is getting the education, not the dog. This allows all students to be set up and ready for the second class when they bring their dog. The hope is to provide students with everything they need to have their first class be a success.
Note: These classes are not for reactive dogs, or dogs that struggle in class environments. Please reach out to Lisa to schedule a pre-class evaluation if you are unsure if this will be the right fit!
